Navigation Course

Learn to navigate on our 1 or 2 day courses.

Courses can be made to suit beginners who want to learn the basics with a map and compass or Mountain Leader aspirants or a Mountain Leader Refresher Course. Night navigation can also be included.

We can offer a course to suit an individual or as a group booking.

Venue to be decided on course, participants and weather. It will be based in Eryri (Snowdonia).

Note: Ground conditions can vary due to the location of course, participants my encounter rough terrain on higher ground.

Smyrff (Merfyn) is a Winter Mountain Leader who works on Mountain Leader Training and Assessment Courses. He has also been teaching navigation with his local Mountain Rescue Team of which he is a full team member.

Smyrff really helped boost our confidence in micro-navigation in poor weather conditions during a recent ML Refresher course in Eryri. Then with a second day in the Glyderau, practicing security on steep ground and ropework techniques. Smyrff is extremely knowledgeable in local flora/fauna and Welsh culture and his relaxing demeanor helped us to soak up all the information we will need for our assessment.
