Moelwynion Guided Walk

The Moelwynion are a wonderful group of mountains based in the central Snowdonia.

There are many excellent and exciting walks in this area which offer various challenges within beautiful landscape and scenery including many lakes and slate quarries.

Moel Siabod

A superb Welsh mountain which offers a great day out. It’s the highest peak in the Moelwynion range and has some of the best views over the Snowdon Horseshoe, Glyderau and Carneddau.

Moel Siabod is also an excellent mountain for learning navigation and also and introduction into scrambling on the Daear Ddu ridge.

Cnicht

Cnicht is also known as the Welsh Matterhorn and is a great hike with beautiful surrounding landscape of the Glaslyn Valley and Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). Although a small mountain in height, the views from its summit are spectacular.

Moelwyn Mawr and Bach

These are the most busy mountains in the Moelwynion, it is possible to do many different walks up to them and they would be perfect on a navigation day also, the views from Moelwyn Mawr in particular are magnificent and among the best in Eryri (Snowdonia), it is also possible to walk through slate quarries on route.

Manod Mawr and Maenofferen

There are many slate quarries on the southern side of Blaenau Ffestiniog and it’s possible to have a day exploring the history there, the peak of Manod Mawr can also be added on this day.
