The Rhinogydd are a chain of splendid mountains located east of Harlech, which is a historic picturesque town situated in Gwynedd, North Wales.
Even though the Rhiniogydd aren’t as well known as other ranges such as The Glyderau and The Carneddau, they are more isolated and much more rugged for walkers and hikers with breath taking views from the summits.
The Rhinogydd are notably remote, rocky and heather-clad towards the northern end of the range, especially around Rhinog Fawr, Rhinog Fach and Y Llethr. There are also many lakes in this area.
Hidden away also are smaller mountains like Moel Ysgyfarnogod, which is close to the bronze age stone cairn of Bryn Cader Faner.
The southern end, around Y Llethr, Diffwys and the Ysgethin Valley has a softer, more grassy character.
Navigation is also very difficult as is the terrain in the Rhinogydd but it is a brilliant place to go if you are looking for a quieter set of mountains.
